Beijing Part 2

Thanks to our dear friend, the International Dateline, our day began quite early today… Like we were all awake by 3:30!  The bright side to this is that we all got to talk or text with friends at home.

Our hotel offers breakfast with a mixture of Western and local offerings. I was able to have a tea egg, which I had been wanting to try!

We met our lovely guide, Angela, at 8:00 to go to the Great Wall.  You don’t grasp how big Beijing is until you drive 2.5 hours to get across town!  The wall was just amazing in so many ways. The beauty of God’s creation in the mountains, the craftiness of man in building this amazing structure that has stood for 600 years (the section we were on).  Angela shared legends and true stories about the wall as we climbed. And I do mean climbed!  By the end, we were glad we chose the “easy route!”

Lunch was fun trying all the traditional Beijing dishes!  We did pass on duck head and duck tongue, though.

The Forbidden City was gorgeous in the afternoon…  Pics to come tomorrow.  We’re off to catch a flight to Nanning!
